Macerated Strawberries

These strawberries are really, really good and preparing them doesn't involve turning on the stove. "Macerated" is the process of softening the strawberries by soaking them in liquid.

Macerated Strawberries (My version)

1-2 packages of strawberries (about 3 1/2 - 4 C strawberries)
1/4 C sugar
1/4 C orange juice (Approximately 1/2 fresh squeezed orange.)

Wash and remove stems from strawberries and half or quarter the berries depending on the berry size. You're looking for bite-size pieces. Add the sugar and 1/4 C fresh orange juice. Stir gently to combine. (I bet 1 t of orange zest would really be good too! I was hoping they would have a little more of an orange kick.) Cover and let stand in fridge for up to 4 hours (stir occasionally). The orange juice and sugar turns into a strawberry syrup.
